Postcode is a method of identifying individual Post Offices by a distinct code. The Postal network is divided into regions, with Offices in each region having a predetermined prefix followed by digits to denote the relative administrative order for each office. The Postcode has advantages both to the organization and for the customers.
Why Postcode?
1. To enable expansion of the Box numbering system
2. To reduce or minimize incidents of missorting or misrouting of mail due to similarity of towns of destination, or
(e.g. Chumvi - 90147 & Chumvini -80314, Gatundu - 01030, Gatondo - 10115 & Gakungu -10232, Gigiri - 0601 & Gilgil - 20116, Kabati - 90205 & Kabazi - 20114, Kagumo - 10307 & Kigumo - 10203 etc)
